If you have some small defects in your teeth, such as slightly mis-matched sizes, small gaps or chips, or slight crookedness, we can treat that easily. One way is by
recontouring of the tooth enamel, where unwanted tooth tissue is removed to create a better shape. Another is by tooth bonding, also called dental bonding, where substance is added to the tooth.
Dental bonding is a soft, malleable substance which
Dr. Tekin applies directly to a tooth in small layers. It comes in a range of shades so he can choose a shade which closely matches your natural tooth color. The term dental bonding refers to this substance, and also to the procedure of applying it.
No anesthetic is usually needed for tooth bonding. The surface of the tooth will be slightly roughened to adhere better to the bonding, but this is such shallow work on the enamel that the tooth’s nerve is not affected. If you would like
anesthetic to help you deal with anxiety, you’ll be welcome to have some though.
When the bonding has been sculpted to fill the chip, or gap, or to give a more straight front surface to a tooth, a curing light is applied to harden it. This takes only a few seconds. A final polishing, and you’re done. So tooth bonding is an easy procedure, done in one visit, and often a good alternative to several other procedures such as porcelain veneers.
