hat is the difference between dentures and partials?

Both replace missing teeth or teeth which must be removed. Dentures are a removable replacement for all of your teeth. Partials are a removable replacement for a section of your teeth.

Will I be able to chew and speak normally with dentures?

When you first get your new dentures, there will be an adjustment period. During this time you will be asked to eat soft foods, while you get used to the way they feel and act. Because Dr. Tekin will custom create your dentures to fit precisely and work together properly, they will not slip or rub. They will fit comfortably and look and act like your natural teeth.

Are there alternatives to dentures and partials?

Yes, in some cases. It will depend on your unique needs. If you only need to replace one tooth or a few individual teeth, you may choose dental implants. A dental implant is a permanent replacement for a tooth, which consists of a titanium rod, inserted to replace the root, topped with a porcelain false tooth. The titanium rod fuses with your jaw bone and prevents bone loss and shrinkage. In some cases, bridgework is a more appropriate option.

Is the procedure painful?

The process of removing all of your teeth may be more involved and time consuming than the dental procedures you have had in the past. We will fully anesthetize the area and you may want to try sedation dentistry, which can make long, complex procedures a relaxed, pleasant experience and is especially good for patients who are afraid of dental procedures or resistant to numbing.
